Dr Sheerin is a research officer for the Antecedents of Renal Disease in Aboriginal Children and young people (ARDAC) Study. She joined the CKR in December 2015 after completing her PhD at the University of Technology, Sydney where she investigated renal dysfunction in chronic heart failure. Her research interests are renal and cardiovascular health and the use of information technologies in health service management.
Noella has worked as a nurse in both cardiology and renal medicine and has research experience in these areas as well as the use of information technologies for health service management in primary care. When at the National Heart Foundation of Australia (NHFA), she was involved in the development of three Australian Institute of Health & Welfare, METeOR data set specifications for CV-Data, Diabetes, and Acute Coronary Syndromes. She also represented the Foundation on the NSW Health initiative to develop the “Know Your Heart Manual” a culturally appropriate cardiovascular resource for Aboriginal Health Professionals.
The ARDAC Study is important to her as she believes the final results will inform policy and practice leading to equitable kidney and cardiovascular health outcomes for Aboriginal families and communities.
